Like many others, Marie Kondo influenced me to start our minimalist journey in our home.

How I Stay Organized:
How I started:
- I started with purging our second closet in our guest room (now our girls’ play room).
- Then, I began tacking one room/area at a time like the pantry, kitchen drawers/cabinets, bathroom vanities, hall closets, filing bin, and foyer. It was so eye-opening realizing all the clothes, shoes, papers, and random crap we’ve kept for meaningless/ unfulfilling reasons. How simple is it?! If it doesn’t bring you joy, let go of it.
- To avoid the stress and anxiety of selling things like unwanted clothes and shoes, I donated all of it. Now that there’s less clutter in the house, I’ve been combing through finished areas for more improvement and selling/donating things via porch pickup on Facebook Marketplace—some as low as $0-$5. It is the BEST FEELING to chill at home and enjoy your space.
How I Stay Organized:
- White Dollar Tree bins and organizers! We use them in all our cabinets, drawers, and closets.
- Shred junk mail/un-needed documents in a micro shredder as soon as possible. We keep ours close to the front door to prevent pile up.
- Stock our pantry and fridge with only frequently used items.
- While Aria eats, I try and fit in as many chores as possible like: vacuum, wipe down appliances or counters, clean out the fridge, unload/load the dishwasher, washing machine or dryer. Steam cleaning the floor happens like once every 6 months lol. We are trying to make it happen at least once a month. We also don’t allow shoes past the foyer to keep the floors from getting too dirty, but Aria loves running around in her shoes. We don’t really stop her 🤷🏻♀️
- In our bathrooms, we keep a Dollar Tree scrubber handy. It only takes a couple of minutes to do a quick scrub after a shower or bath. We try and do it at least every other week to prevent soap scum buildup.
